Apple's next generation of tablets iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 is rumoured to be released sooner than later.
Apple's CEO Tim Cook recently confirmed that no new Apple products will be released before fall 2013. However, the sudden disappearance of previous iPads tells consumers otherwise.
The iPad with Retina Display and iPad Mini suddenly disappeared in some retailers. One major retailer is now sold out of about half its iPad 4 configurations, with the iPad mini vanishing nearly as swiftly. Another is doing better but is also gradually marking more current iPad models as "out of stock" as the month goes on.

Early this month, several websites reported that Apple and retailers offered great discounts on the current iPad models. According to rumours, almost 30 percent being slashed off the price of iPad's and iPad mini's, the clearance sale by the retail giants on tablet's third anniversary is a clear cut indication that Apple is all set to hit the market with a new and updated iPad for the customers.

The iPad Mini 2 is rumoured to feature a screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Other specs include a more powerful dual core A7 processor and a 7.9 inch screen. It will also feature a 10-hour battery life, a FaceTime HD camera, and an iSight camera with 1080 pixels HD video recording. Apple is also trying to reduce the thickness of the iPad Mini 2 by using the Sharp's IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) technology in its screens.
The Cupertino-based company offers no comment on the rumours surrounding its devices.

In the most recent earnings call with investors, press and analysts, Cook said that no new products are to launch before the end of the year.
"Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can't wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014," Cook said.
According to rumours, the Apple's iPad 5 is said to be running on Apple A7X quad-core processor, with 1-2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB storage options, along with a 5-8MP rear facing camera and 1.3MP front facing camera. The device will have connectivity options including WiFi + 4G LTE, and Bluetooth 4.0 with Lightning Connector. The iPad 5 is said to come with storage options of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

Ech giant Apple is reported to release the iOS 6.2 update next month along with the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2

According to reports, Apple's iOS 7 mobile software is not yet ready and has not yet entered developer beta. The new iOS could make its debut at the WWDC conference in June at the earliest.
Thus, software and hardware features which Apple wants to use in the initial marketing of the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 will need to be lifted from iOS 7 and transplanted into an iOS 6.2 update. Those transplanted iOS 6.2 features and tweaks will offer the first glimpse into what iOS 7 has under its sleeve.
Apple recently fired Scott Forstall and was replaced by chief hardware designer Jonathan Ive is in charge of software interface development. iOS 7 will reveal the direction of the interface changes he intends to implement going forward, and the 6.2 temporary fix will offer a peek under that hood.
